The Ileana Tounta Contemporary Art Center presents the solo show of Dimitris Baboulis.

Dimitris Baboulis creates an imaginary environment combining indian ink drawings with sculptures made of iron. The drawings reveal either a space or a non-space, which is transferred to the gallery space through the sculptures. The sculptures look as if they are seeking their origin inside the drawings, and the forms that are depicted in some of them create an existential narrative. When the sculptures of Dimitris Baboulis are seen from a different angle they acquire different forms defining the notion of personal and collective space as well as our perception regarding space and time. Through the use of rough materials and the integration of seemingly simplistic constructions the artist questions the concept of limits and the deconstruction of sculpture. Actually, he creates an assemblage of concepts and forms in which he captures the sense of the uncanny.
