"Goldene Ruinen" - Viktoria Binschtok / Fabian Reimann

13 Jan - 11 Feb 2006

Viktoria Binschtok and Fabian Reimann will open the exhibition year 2006 at AMERIKA with their new works.

Seeking and waiting – Viktoria Binschtok scrutinizes with great sensibility but thoroughly these terms that are so ubiquitous in our daily societal disposition. At first she also lined up with the waiting mass at the job center; but then returned in order to convert the traces of wear and tear that an ever increasing, need based community leaves on walls and aisles. As in her previous works, it is Binschtok’s sharp eye for paradoxes and striking symbols of social life that turn this work into another impressive piece of her art.

The evocation of fear, the staging of intimidation and the instable balance of seemingly familiar coordinates are the themes of Fabian Reimann’s new work. The tempting threat of a sculptural system reflects the question of how it is to live in a state of permanent fear. Where will your family be when disaster strikes? Hurricane, Freak Wave, Hazardous Materials Spill, Earthquake und Terrorist Attack are now issues of Homeland Security; before, the substitute for all fears was only the bomb. Now, all daily objects can make us nervous: “it happened without warning“. Fabian Reimann transforms household articles and firewood into silent senders that can attack unpredictably.

The exhibition will run until February 11th, 2006 and we would be happy to welcome you in the gallery!

Opening hours Tue. - Sat. 11-18h
