An exhibition of the Kunsthalle Dьsseldorf in collaboration with the Stiftung Kunstfonds
The Stiftung Kunstfond is an independent funding institution that, since its establishment in 1980, has been devoted to supporting innovation in contemporary art. After having itself planned thematic touring exhibitions from time to time, the foundation has for the first time requested a single institution, namely the Kunsthalle Dьsseldorf, to develop an exhibition concept. From among the large number of artists supported over the past 30 years, the Kunsthalle will select 10 to 15. The choice will reflect the diversity permitted by the Kunstfonds sponsorship model while keeping within an open thematic framework set by the discussion on the autonomy and function of art in the societal context. The exhibition will examine various possibilities available to artists in the intermediate area between aesthetic autonomy and embeddedness in everyday life, society, and politics.
