Lester Beall was one of the most important and critically acclaimed American graphic designers of the twentieth century. Influenced by avant-garde European design of the 1920s and 1930s, Beall developed a modernist aesthetic characterized by a dynamic layering of words and images, jaunty photomontage, exuberant color, and above all, clarity of message.
