A cooperation between the Frankfurter Kunstverein, the MMK Museum for Modern Art Frankfurt am Main and Portikus/Städelschule
Opening: Friday December 10, 2010, 7 p.m.
Art, as well as artists and their creative processes, form an important component of the identity of Frankfurt. With more than a thousand artists living in the city, over two hundred studios, a large selection of museums, exhibition spaces and art sponsors and patrons, as well as the Städelschule, Frankfurt am Main, with its international profile, is a “hot spot” for the art system. The exhibition “New Frankfurt Internationals” would like to take the artistic potential available in the city into consideration. It concentrates upon works by artists who live in Frankfurt am Main and its surroundings and/or have studied there (Städelschule State Academy of Art and Design) – and who now partly already belong to the ‘new internationals’ of the art system. “New Frankfurt Internationals” will be shown simultaneously at the Frankfurter Kunstverein, the MMK Museum for Modern Art, Frankfurt am Main, Portikus and the Städelschule. Themes will be developed for each of the four locations, which reflect on various aspects of life and work in Frankfurt and its surroundings.
