The work underscores the presence of a round arch set in the raw industrial space. A piece of cardboard placed at the apex folds naturally under its own weight, as if it was echoing the arch, and thus temporarily alters the gallery’s fittings.

curated by the Curatorial Training Programme
installation view (projection from Sulki Choi), photo by Peter Cox
The Attic is a redesign of the top floor of De Appel Amsterdam referring to different events, which took place during the exhibition Quicksand. The work is a fragmented recreation of the already existing attic space. The Attic consisted of an interview corner, an arena of benches, a projection screen displaying a computer-based project, an info lab, relaxing/reading area with artists’ documentation and a the set-up for a game night.

Display window, daylight studio, radio store, shop, panorama, base cap: an array of six sets around an enclosed spatial situation. The sets are based on common architectural motives such as a passage, a display window, fanlight, or canopy; the variable set is intended to evoke the typical impression of space and lightness of a new building.
