The Spirit of Places presents paintings by Francis Bowyer PPRWS NEAC, exploring the artist’s current areas of interest.

Bowyer’s recent work captures atmospheres in Parisian, and more recently London restaurants; conceptual and intimate views of the interior of his studio; and the Suffolk landscape of Walberswick, that has always remained close to his heart.

Bowyer studied at St. Martins School of Art and Chelsea School of Art and currently teaches life drawing at the Royal Academy Schools. He is a Member of the Royal Watercolour Society, where he served as President of the Society from 2000 – 2003 and is a Member of the New English Art Club.

His commissions include the National Grid and London Federation of Clubs for Young People. He has work in collections held at RWS Diploma Collection, St Cuthberts Paper Mill, National Grid plc, London Federation of Clubs for Young People, the Royal Collection and H.R.H. The Prince of Wales Collection, and with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and in private collections internationally. He recently visited Camp Bastion, Afghanistan as a War Artist.
