For Americana, Bettineschi will create a new work comprised of an installation of light boxes of different sizes dispersed throughout the space. Each light box transmits Bettineschi's glowing, gestural digital drawings, underscoring her long-standing interest in cosmic motion models and optical theory. Her installations transform and electrify their exhibition spaces, as the surfaces and materials of the works reflect and distribute color and light. Americana, a multivenue, international survey of her work, is currently touring throughout the United States and Europe and is accompanied by a 132-page catalog published by Skira. Project Room Mariella Bettineschi: Americana is presented in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute, Los Angeles - IIC - and Director Francesca Valente.
