TARO NASU is pleased to inform the solo exhibition by a young Japanese painter, Kaoru Usukubo from November through December.

Though this is her first one person show, she is already well-recognized in Japan, however, thanks to an excellent reception her work garnered at the Art Fair Tokyo 2007 in this April and VOLTA show 03 at Basel in this June.
She is one of the most talked-about painters among those who were born in the 1980s and have been active in the recent years.

Japanese artists born after 1980 have been familiar, since childhood, with the new visual world produced by video games, personal computers and digital cameras. Their works all pose a new question: Which is "more realistic" to us, the fictional three-dimensional space created in the artists' imagination, or the three-dimensional space in reality?

Usukubo confronts the question with the most acute consciousness and strives to answer it with her remarkable technique and impressive colors.
