Bernier and Martin, X and Y v. France: The Case of a Legal Precedent
PAUSE :: SINGING THE NET

May 1–Jun 13, 2010

YBCA presents a new project by French artists Patrick Bernier and Olive Martin; this unique project is in collaboration with YBCA and the new French residency program, Kadist Art Foundation. Singing the Net centers on ideas of frontiers, territories, movement, and identity using the Internet as a source of metaphors for these subjects with its unique territories, histories, and identities. Interested in the position of the traveler that navigates the Internet, and how that movement might be translated into song, Singing the Net will explore Web navigation using the history tool to create texts that will become songs. The artists will work in collaboration with local computer programmers and storytellers to create a new Internet navigation tool that will create stories through an automatic navigation of the Internet. These stories will be told visually and through song as a further collaboration with singers gives way to musical interpretations in a live performance.
