CREATIVE LAB: KIRSTY STANSFIELD AND AN MERTENS
1 - 26 August, 2011
Artist, Kirsty Stansfield and storyteller, An Mertens will explore the concept of the “voice as object”. During their Creative Lab they will integrate the exploration of language and performance using motion tracking software as a mediator for developing concepts and methods of performance in which physical objects, performers and words are equal “players”. The software not only mediates the performers but also has the potential to become a performer in its own right.
Biographies:
Kirsty Stansfield is a visual artist, who uses a variety of media including video, sound, sculpture, installation, interactive technologies and dialogue. Recent work has explored how sound (including the voice) mediates people’s relationships to each other and to their physical environment. Integral to her practice is a desire to articulate processes of discourse and engagement that operate on many levels within and outside language.
