Entartet
6 - 20 August, 2011

Entartet listens for the echoes of a haunting guide’s voice from a very real past.

This project reflects on the Exhibition of Degenerate Art, which took place in Munich in 1937 with the aim to publicly ridicule nonconforming artists. Entartet explores the disregard of totalitarian policies towards a person’s life and the personal tragedy of having a life destroyed by an overwhelming outside force. Finally, it explores the revenge of a very, very failed arts student.

Entartet will provide a space to experience and listen to a voice from the past, and to imagine what can no longer be seen.

This work-in-progress presentation gives the opportunity to follow the development of an ambitious new project. A week-long development period will culminate in two showings at the CCA on August 6th. During the following two weeks there will be an installation – open to the public – where you can watch as we explore ideas, sounds, performances and tiny spaces.

Presentations/discussion:
Saturday 6 August / 3pm & 6pm / FREE

Both presentations will be followed by a short discussion.

Entartet is created by Kai Fischer in association with Vanishing Point and CCA Glasgow and involves a collaboration with performer Pauline Goldsmith and sound designer Matt Padden as well as a performance by Isabelle Joss.
