This summer, Galerie Thomas Schulte is very pleased to present German painter
Jonas Weichsel’s first solo exhibition at the gallery, alongside a minimalist yarn
sculpture by US-American artist Fred Sandback in the Corner Space.

From the late 1960s, Fred Sandback (1943–2003) created an expansive oeuvre
of linear sculptures, employing minimal means to achieve spatial effects that
combine artwork, space, and the viewer’s perception. This work, using the form
of a “broken” triangle and configured for the gallery’s Corner Space, utilizes only
a few stretched lines of acrylic yarn to achieve Sandback’s spatial intervention. In
the artist’s own words, “My work doesn’t take over a space, but rather coexists
with it.”
