SPAGAT!
Istanbul Design Tasarimi

18 December 2010 to 20 February 2011

Opening: Friday, December 17, 19.30 Uhr

After “Nullpunkt. Nieuwe German Gestaltung”, Belgian curator Max Borka has undertaken yet another unusual examination of contemporary design with a new geographic perspective. This time the main focus is on Istanbul, Europe’s largest and most lively and contradictory metropolis. Marta takes its visitors on a trip thus offering a first overview of a both exciting and yet unknown design scene. As this exhibition intends to portray Istanbul’s role as a self-organising laboratory of the future, it is also designed to represent a panorama, an experimental area and a forum. Max Borka, who spent some months researching in Istanbul together with his assistant Anna Pannekoek, will also “inhabit” the show in order to welcome guests from the world of design, art, film, fashion and literature. The aim is to inspire new thoughts regarding the design of living environments in globalised times that go far beyond classic product design.
