With Indian ink, charcoal, marker pens and acrylic paint Deddens makes paintings, drawings and murals in a playful way that contain colourful and dark fragments at the same time. Hairy, whimsical hatchings and colourful shapes lead to images of complex worlds. Deddens’s images also come together in booklets with screen print and stencil techniques. For instance he recently made a book in Extrapool and he regularly publishes books with the Owsum collective.
Gijs Deddens graduated from Academie Minerva in Groningen in 2007.
